Unfortunately we did not receive the grant funding to support our summer program this year that we have in the past, so we are calling on our community to help us raise funds to enrich our 5-week YouthWorks program!

This is Whitelock Community Farm's 5th summer hosting a YouthWorks program!
We have had an amazing crew of youth working with us each year, and this year 3 of our returning youth have stepped into leadership roles to help plan and facilitate program activities.

All money raised will be used to take field trips, compensate guest speakers, workshop facilitators, and our staff who run the program. It is our goal to showcase career pathways, powerful community-led projects, and inspiring individuals.

A little more about our program:

YouthWorkers contribute to farm work and neighborhood outreach to support the farm's efforts to provide fresh vegetables to residents of Reservoir Hill and Penn North. The program is designed to introduce youth employees to sustainable agriculture practices, community programming, social entrepreneurship, environmental literacy and stewardship, as well as initiatives working toward food justice in Baltimore.

Youth will gain job skills and training, and will be encouraged to pursue their own interests in urban agriculture, nutrition and community engagement. This year our team will be using their new knowledge to teach gardening and cooking lessons to youth attending our local recreation center's summer program, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with youth working at other sites in the community.
